Saying Good-bye

Saying good-bye isn't always easy. When you enjoy something and the company of others so much it's hard to leave.
But, I'm starting to learn that if you want to move forward sometimes you have to take the steps....steps forward and move. Changing hours, time frames, ways of doing things takes adjusting to, it takes courage, and discipline. Similar to facing trails, tribulations, fears or obstacles... it takes strength.

-----------------------
Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. — 2 Corinthians 12:10

Family and Friends

My visit was not only comprised of the CrossFit Family but more importantly my family and friends. It was great seeing my oldest brother in Philadelphia with my nephew, Greg. That was a special treat as I made my way down to NC.

Good friends are not always easy to come by, but there is someone within my company who has always been good to me (a good friend). Rick Williams is in the IT department (in Charlotte, NC) and I have communicated with him for many many years and when he has been in my area he has stopped in and when I am in his area I have done the same. I know in our business world Rick probably wishes he never gave me his number (or tell me to call if I needed something) because when the help desk wasn’t “helping” who would I call?
Thankfully things have changed and PC computers are no longer an issue/duty of mine. But still we have remained friends.
It was great seeing you and your wife Rick.
Thanks for the great time out! Hope to see you again.

CrossFit Family

I have to say that the CrossFit community really is a family. Every gym, every box, in every state I visited this past several days had the same characteristics. Fun, Friendly, and very very Passionate about CrossFit. I feel honored to be apart of the CrossFit community!

Are All CrossFits the Same?

The answer is NO. Not all CrossFits are the same.

Some are out in the country like the new
CrossFit Lancaster, Lancaster, PA
Congratulations Tim and good luck on your grand
opening May 1, 2010.
(Sorry I didn't get a picture of your gym-in it's beginning phase)

Some are right in the middle of a business park.
Like CrossFit Tribe/Steve's Club in Pennsauken, NJ

Some are out of garage type spaces.
Which serves it's purpose as a temporary place after a fire took it
CrossFit Renaissance's old place. CrossFit Renaissance is located in Philadelphia, PA.
Good luck in finding a new place with some additional trainers Bill!

Some are very long, large, and with great "painted" white boards.
Like this one at Lorton CrossFit, Lorton VA

Some are not so big but have a great setup like
CrossFit RVA, Richmond VA

BUT, then some are really really big, so big I need 2-3 more pictures to show the whole place. Big enough to accommodate CrossFit's Coaches Prep Course.
That is Ultimate CrossFit in Charlotte, NC.

Made it!

A million miles later....
4 awesome affiliates
2 car accidents right in front of me. (at different times)
1 deer killed by the car next to me. (YEAH - a deer going across a 4 lane highway in Washington!!!!) what the heck!
1 rental car (mine!) dying (on another busy 4 lane highway) making the trip 2.5 hours longer.

BUT I'm here! and I feel Great!

Guess where I am here?

NO, not on the beach. I'm poolside in the middle of these very tall buildings.

My Trip So Far with Tom

It’s always nice to have help when you’re taking a trip. Help to tell you when to turn or where to go. That’s why I took Tom (for short) with me on my trip to NC.

First day didn’t start off very good, Tom started telling me where to go..... when I had written directions right in front of me. Although I wanted help I guess I was stubborn. I ended up shutting him out.

Second day was the longest day traveling and I knew I was going to need help. But every time I listened to Tom, it was like listening to a foreign girl and it was starting to bother me. I began questioning if I really needed help.
After awhile the conflict between the two ways of going got us lost TWICE!! How does that happen? Once Tom took us down a dead end street and then I took us north instead of south once. BUT in the end Tom did help me out of both situations.

Long story short I do appreciate Tom. Tom is quite interesting and I plan on getting to know Tom. BUT if I hear Charlotte pronounced one more time "share-a -lot" Tom's out of here.

Signing out....ME and TOM TOM®

All work and no play...

...I don't think so.
What else would you rather be doing?
CrossFit Total wasn't in the picture so.... how about making a lifting platform?

Gather the materials.....

Two coats of porch and deck water sealant.

Let it bath in the sun. (while I mow the lawn)

Start the creating. Three layers, glued, deck screws all around and one final coating on top platform...... AND there you have it an outdoor lifting platform.

Now how do I keep the dog from peeing on it?
